São Paulo has more to offer than just a large city, along it's coast line I was impressed to find mountains of rainforest that aligned its coastal beaches, some of the most beautiful I have ever seen such as the beaches of Ubatuba. While we were there we were told that Ubatuba is often referred to as Ubachuva, meaning Ubarain, since it rains there so often. When we got there it was mostly cloudy but that did not stop us from enjoying ourselves on the beach.
We rented kayaks, and took a schooner boat to Sete Fontes beach, where we got to spend some time, eat fried fish and drink fresh squeezed guava juice.
Let's talk food!
The seafood in Ubatuba was AMAZING! We went to restaurant called O Rei do Peixe (The King of Fish) and ordered "Caçarola de Frutos do Mar" which is a seafood dish that included, mussels, octopus, squid, pink shrimp. It also came with a side of rice and pirão (a mixture of manioc flour with fish broth) that we added on top of the rice. Then we added some hot sauce for a kick! Not to mention we only ordered one plate which fed 4 people. If I were to order a dish like this in the states it would cost me over $50 but it Ubatuba it was under $20, again for 4 people!

Another thing I really enjoyed about Ubatuba is the melted cheese and fresh coconut water sold on the beach. I always get hungry as I am on the beach don't you? The Brazilians got it right with their açaí bowls and smoothies, melted cheese, and pastels all sold right on the sand.
